FICEP Open Hour: Anti-Racism in Sports

Expert Keren Vogler, Anti-Racism commissioner at DJK introduced the participants of three countries to the topic “Anti-Rascim in Sports”.

Under the slogan “United in Diversity: Kicking Racism out of Sport” the expert discussed the impact of racism incidents on the performance of athletes and in which forms racism manifests in Sport.  Keren Vogler explained why we are talking about this topic and let the participants reflect on statements to the topic. She finished with input to the questions “what can you do to make a difference”, so what actions can be taken.

  • Speak up when you hear hate, even if it’s “just a joke.”
  • Don’t downplay others’ experiences – listen and believe them.
  • Educate yourself: books, podcasts, documentaries, workshops.
  • Watch your language – respectful terminology matters.
  • Advocate for inclusive policies in your team or club.

After her keynote, the participants exchanged their experiences concerning their work in the sports field and gave input what tools could help them in the future.

FICEP Open Hour

The FICEP “Open Hour” is a new format for exchange. The goal is to offer the FICEP members a regular exchange and networking possibility between the members. With this new format the executive committee wants to offer the young generation an attractive setting for exchange and the possibility to dive deeper into several topics.

In Memoriam Clément Schertzinger

Unfortunately we have to mourn the loss of former FICEP president and honorary president of FSCF Clément Schertzinger.

As a board member, Secretary General and then President of the International Catholic Federation of Physical and Sports Education (FICEP) from 2003 to 2009, he played an active role in developing exchanges between European sports and educational movements. His bilingualism, his ability to foster dialogue and his extensive knowledge of the voluntary sector earned him widespread recognition.

FICEP Youth Congress Munich

The third FICEP Youth Congress took place in Munich (Germany) from 10th to 12th of April , 2026, under the motto “”You make the difference” – How can I attract and retain volunteers?”. The aim of this congress was to inform federations and club members about their possibilities to gain new volunteers and approach new target groups, as well as how to communicate with a multilanguage groups.
